Description
Provide students with an opportunity to observe the growth, development, and metamorphosis of the twelve-spotted ladybug (Coleomegilla maculata), from young larva to adult. Students complete a ladybug journal as the ladybugs complete their life cycle. Along with the journal activity, the kit provides 4 different learning units, ranging from development and life cycle to defensive strategies of ladybugs. To facilitate learning, the included full-color teacher’s manual provides or suggests dozens of different activities. Digital resources are also included to help your students learn about the ladybug in greater depth. Designed for upper elementary and middle school students, the kit comes with everything needed to ensure healthy growth and care of your ladybugs.
The activities in this kit build toward the following Next Generation Science Standards*:
- 4-LS1-1. Structure and Function
- MS-LS1-4. Growth and Development of Organisms
The Demo Kit comes with 1 ladybug larvae culture and is intended for the instructor to handle the ladybugs while providing observational activities for students. The 1-year single teacher subscription gives access to digital resources: reproducible teacher’s manual, digital student worksheets, and graphics that can be used with interactive whiteboards and teacher presentation stations.
Note: Kit includes a prepaid coupon to request perishable materials (ladybug culture and food) later at your convenience. Contact us or return the coupon at least 2 weeks prior to requested delivery date to ensure prompt arrival of material.
