Grades 6–12. Imagine the potential! Using this kit students will be guided to construct a car powered by a mousetrap. Then as part of a design challenge, students are encouraged to brainstorm ways to improve car performance by accounting for friction, mechanical advantage, and mass while they learn about potential and kinetic energy, conservation of energy, torque, and inertia. Materials support a single student or a small group of students. Includes instructions.
