AC/DC Smart Power Supply

Product Code: PI-9525

Description

Available for Pre Order

The AC/DC Smart Power Supply is a Bluetooth Low Energy wireless signal generator. It outputs DC as well as sine, square, positive square, and triangle AC signals. The maximum power output is 10 V at 1 amp and the maximum output frequency is 100 kHz.

The AC/DC Smart Power Supply is controlled through PASCO Capstone or SPARKvue software. The ability to control this power supply through Bluetooth makes it possible for users of Chromebooks, Android, and Apple IOS devices to do experiments with wireless sensors that require a power source.

Features

  • Maximum Power: 10 V @ 1A
  • Output Functions: DC, sine, square, triangle
  • Output Frequency Range: 0.001 Hz to 100 kHz
  • Software controls: Choose wave form, frequency, amplitude, and on/off in PASCO Capstone or SPARKvue
  • Bluetooth or USB data connection
  • Built-in output voltage sensor
  • Current limit warning
  • Programmable using Blockly code in PASCO Capstone or SPARKvue
  • Blockly Library contains special functions for a long ramp and stepping through resonant frequencies.

Applications

  • Power the Wave Driver (WA-9855) to show resonances in a vibrating string
  • Power the Wave Driver (WA-9855) to show resonances in a Chladni plate

Activities

  • 01) Ohm’s Law Using AC/DC Smart Power Supply
    • The purpose of this experiment is to verify Ohm’s Law for commercially manufactured resistors and to examine the limits of validity for Ohm’s Law. The behavior of resistors, a diode, and a light bulb are examined.
  • 02) Series and Parallel Circuits Using AC/DC Smart Power Supply
    • Series/Parallel circuits are reduced to an equivalent resistance and that resistance is verified by measuring the total current and total voltage. In a second stand-alone experiment, the behavior of lamps in series, parallel, and series/parallel is qualitatively examined.
