Getting Started With PASCO’s Greenhouse

Unboxing and Step-by-Step Assembly

The PASCO Greenhouse Sense & Control Kit (ST‑2997) includes the modular EcoChamber, a //control.Node hub, and essential accessories like the Grow Light, USB fan, USB pump, Greenhouse Sensor, tubing, stoppers, and connectors.

This video shows each piece being carefully removed and explained, from inserting the temperature and humidity board into the EcoChamber lid to connecting the Grow Light and sensor cables to the control hub. The accessory kit allows quick assembly of an irrigation and airflow system, while the Greenhouse Sensor tracks key variables such as light intensity, soil moisture, humidity, and temperature. The //control.Node enables programmable automation using Blockly code, allowing students to set lighting schedules, control fans, or activate the water pump.

Greenhouse Activities

The Greenhouse Sense & Control Kit is supported by student activities that can be edited to fit your course needs. Each activity builds students’ computational thinking skills through Blockly programming and includes opportunities to focus on biology or environmental science concepts. Every investigation includes extensions that enhance engineering and design practices.

Write a program that controls light output in order to model the sun’s daily light cycle.

Program a fan that controls the air temperature inside an EcoChamber greenhouse

Program an automated plant watering system of their own design

Use Greenhouse inputs and outputs to identify an ideal plant choice.

Use inputs and outputs to incorporate and program an autonomous Greenhouse.
